Monitoring for Alterations in Body Systems
Trend recognition — the NGN's signature skill — is tested heavily here: is this patient's data improving or worsening across two or three assessments? A patient whose oxygen saturation drops from 96% to 92% to 88% over an hour, even if each individual reading might seem "acceptable" in isolation, represents a deteriorating trend requiring escalation, not reassurance.
