Immediate post-op priorities follow ABC: airway first (positioning, checking for stridor/obstruction as anesthesia wears off), then breathing (oxygen saturation, encouraging deep breathing to prevent atelectasis), then circulation (vital signs, surgical site, drains). Malignant hyperthermia is a rare but life-threatening anesthesia complication presenting with rapidly rising temperature and muscle rigidity, treated emergently with dantrolene.
