Child & Adolescent Mental Health (ADHD, Autism, Conduct Disorder)
ADHD involves a persistent pattern of inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity that impairs functioning across multiple settings (school and home, not just one) — stimulant medications (like methylphenidate or amphetamine-based agents) are first-line pharmacologic treatment for many patients, and nursing teaching includes monitoring growth (appetite suppression can affect weight gain in growing children), sleep, and cardiovascular status, since stimulants can affect heart rate and blood pressure.
