Mental Health Disorders (Mood, Anxiety, Psychotic, Substance Use)
For mood disorders, know that during a manic episode the priority is safety and limiting stimulation (a quiet environment, simple/concrete communication, monitoring nutrition and sleep since patients may be too active to eat or rest); during major depression, always assess suicide risk directly and specifically — asking about suicidal ideation does not "plant the idea" and is a required, not optional, assessment.
