Fire Safety & Environmental Hazard Awareness
Beyond RACE and PASS (covered under emergency response), environmental hazard awareness includes recognizing oxygen as a fire accelerant — no smoking or open flame near any patient using supplemental oxygen — and knowing that electrical equipment with frayed cords or in a wet environment poses both fire and shock risk and should be removed from use immediately, not just noted for later.
